The original race of around 25 km, which accumulates 1500 meters of elevation gain across the course, starts from the town centre. The route runs along breathtaking panoramic trails above La Thuile. The runners reach the Deffeyes Refuge via the beautiful "balconata" trail, from here they approach the majestic Ruitor glacier, its moraine and its beautiful lakes. The route then takes the runners through the Bellacomba valley, continue towards the Tchuielletta lakes and descends back down towards La Thuile, passing through the woods. The finish line is located in the centre of the village where the runners started the race.
